The Dickens, You Say...

So, the Theatre Orangeville Christmas production came along again. Another one of those madness-inducing enterprises! Dickens' A Christmas Carol. All stops out. Two costume designers again, the third time we've done this, which means a costume staff of two whole people! Woo woo! And a mainstage cast of eleven actors, playing how many characters? and an accompanying choir of 75, broken into three rotating choirs of 25.
(Mmmmm... why do we do this we wonder?)

There had been a theory (thin at both ends...) which was that maybe we'd rent most of the show. But it turned out that pretty near every theatre in the province had decided that this was the year to do A Christmas Carol, or Oliver! So, the pickings were slim.

So, in the long run, despite my blurry photos, it looks like something. We rented some bits, built some bits, emptied my re-enactors' wardrobe, dug some strange pieces out of costume stock, and did stranger things with them, and even got mentioned in the review!
